You Know You’ve Said It …
March 12th, 2007 Posted in MiscellanyIf you work in IT, whether it be as a sysadmin, programmer, software engineer, IT manager, or helpdesk jockey, you know you’ve said it … USERS SUCK! They always seem to be able to ruin a good day. They have a knack for constantly amazing you with their utter lack of understanding and ability. At the end of the day though, these user support stories provide a good chuckle and sharing these war stories instills a sense of comraderie with your co-workers (preferably over a drink after work). That’s where this blog comes in …
In addition to being my personal tech journal where I’ll post articles ranging from Windows Server, XP, and Vista, to Linux and Solaris, Symantec Ghost, and Virtualization, I’ll also be posting user support stories. As a systems administrator for a regional University in New Hampshire with nearly 5,000 users, these types of stories are nearly a daily occurence. Hopefully these stories will provide as much amusement for you as they have frustration for me.
Do you have a story about a time when a user made you rip your hair out? Want to vent? Drop me a line on the contact page and I’ll post your story here. Please be sure not to use any personally identifiable information in your story; we wouldn’t want the user you’re venting about to realize that they’re reading a story about themselves and get PO’ed at both you and me now do we?
